How can English speakers learn Indonesian fast?

Short answer

English speakers have a huge advantage with Indonesian — it\'s officially the easiest Asian language for them (FSI Category II, ~900 hours to professional working proficiency). Reasons: Latin alphabet (no script learning), no tones (unlike Mandarin/Vietnamese/Thai), no verb conjugations, no gendered nouns, SVO word order like English. The realistic path: 30 minutes/day for 30 days gets you to A1, 3 months gets to A2, 6-9 months to B1. The hardest parts: affixes (me-/-kan/-i), politeness register shifts, and kita vs kami (the inclusive/exclusive "we"). Most English-speaking foreigners can hold a basic conversation within 2-3 weeks of dedicated study.
